License Your Pet

All pet licenses are valid for one (1) year and expire on December 31st of the license year. The cost of a 2016 pet tag is $11.00 for neutered pets or $31.00 for intact pets. Pet owners must provide proof of a current rabies vaccination before the license will be issued.

A penalty of an additional $2.00 per license applies to the original charge when the license is purchased after March 1st, an additional $4.00 is added after April 1st, and an additional $6.00 is added if the license is purchased after May 1st.

These penalties do not apply to pet tag renewals for PIT BULLS. If you are the owner of a pit bull you must renew your pet license BEFORE March 1st or the license will be deemed non-continuous and the pit bull will no longer be exempt from the City-wide ban. You will not be allowed to re-license your continually licensed pit bull in Sioux City if you do not renew BEFORE March 1st.

The 2016 Pet License Renewal Notices will be mailed to pet owners the first week of December. Pet owners may apply for their 2016 Pet Licenses starting December 1st at the Customer Service Center in City Hall, 405 6th Street; Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue, 2400 Hawkeye Drive; or participating veterinarians.
