On Friday, February 15, 2008 during school, my daughter, Kristine, was told by her teacher about Max, a Pitbull mix, 4 yr old dog that was at the Siouxland Humane Society.

My son adopted this dog from you. You may remember him as BJ. His fur was short and looked unhealthy and now that he is on his regular 3 squares a day plus "good boy" snacks I have noticed he has filled out and his coat is longer and fuller.

Hello Max (previously Palomo) and I were in Sioux Falls on Sunday visiting family. Im pretty sure Max knew he was Max and not Palomo before we got back to Omaha the night I adopted him.

We adopted our little Westie, "Husker," from the Humane Society in Sioux City about one month ago. Since then, my husband and I have fell completely in love with Husker (as have his "grandparents").

Last may I adopted Drake. He has been wonderful. I didn't quite know what to expect from a "shelter dog" but he continues to blow me away.

I wanted to add my success story. Three month old Lily came to the family two months to the day that Lex passed away after 13 years.

In April, we adopted a kitten, Ella, fron SHS when she was 7 weeks old. She is getting so big (just like my daughter, Ella is growing up too fast).

Ella is a lot of fun and Katie always looks forward to playing with her and helping me feed her(in fact, Katie even named her-Ella is short for her favorite Disney princess, Cinderella).

This is Hercules! We adopted him from you about 6 years ago. He has his own HORSE pen, but spends alot of time in the house when we are home.

I adopted Oreo about a year ago last month. I saw him on petfinder and was instantly in love. I drove up with my parents from Omaha to come get him.

This is me and Dublin, whom I adopted from you 3 weeks ago. From the first second I saw her, I could tell she had extraordinary focus and would be easy to train.

Just a short note to update you on Shep. As you can see from the photo, he is well adjusted and feels like he's lived here for years! My 3 year old loves him to death! They are best buddies! I have started doing bite work with him and he is catching on very quickly! He is still very hyper and I doubt that will ever change! He is always looking for a challenge! He showed me he could jump our 4 foot fence without effort the other day and then jumped back in...just showing off I think! I will probably start him on narcotics work in another week or two! I think he will pick that up very fast as his ball drive is really intense! He could stare a hole through his Kong I think so it will be no problem getting him to be a passive alert dog on the narcotics! The prison has decided not to bring Shep in at this point and said they will buy me a Belgium Malinois in July but that has yet to be seen.

Back in March I drove up from Omaha, Ne to take home the newest member of my family, Gracie (Bella).

My husband and I have a success story about a wonderful dog from Siouxland! Ruby came to live with us when our golden retriever SanDee could no longer live a useful, happy life.

In the spring of 1992, we came to your shelter looking for a new dog. Our two daughters were 8 and 2 at the time.

Oscar got car sick on the way home. He was better when we got home. I gave him a bath and brushed his hair.

One week ago we lost our beloved Roosevelt Rat Terrier, Bo. He died after routine surgery. This was our son's dog, but we were all terribly heart broken.

Quincy is doing fine. He is great about staying in his kennel when I don't want him to run the whole house.

Dear Friends at the Siouxland Humane Society, I have not forgotten all the kindness you gave me during my stay in Sioux City.

Kitty fills the void for us after losing our eighteen year old cat last winter. We keep my sister and brother-in-law's sixteen year old Siamese who seemed lonely after the loss of our cat.

At the end of June, I lost my Keesha dog. She was the ruler of the farm place and the dictator of all who lived there.

We adopted a one year old Cocker Spaniel named Casey in August after searching a year for the right dog for our daughter.

Ian and Emily adopted Taylor on the 11th. We decided to add to his name: Professor Taylor, but we just call him Tay.

Our new dog has been with us only a short while and already she is a part of our family. The first two days she did nothing but sleep, eat and keep to herself.

Major is doing very well. He is very well mannered and gets really excited when he plays. Thanks for the opportunity to adopt Major.

In October we talked about adopting a kitten to keep our dog, Kramer, company. My wife stopped by the Shelter and fell in love with a pair of kittens.

Hi, my name is Ozzy and I was adopted from the Siouxland Humane Society in September of 2000. An animal control officer brought me in as a stray.

Big pointy ears. Brown shaggy hair. A collar with tags that click when he comes running. Barking at everyone except the ones he knows. He's always at your feet begging for attention. But the one he bugs the most is the one who loves him the most. With no kids in the house he's become Grandpa's best friend. Now they're always together. Grandpa fell in love with his big brown eyes. This mother horse was taken in an abuse and neglect case in 2001. She was in very poor condition and in need of special attention.
