DESCRIPTION:SHELTER UPDATE: COVID-19 – The health of staff\, you the community\, and the animals are our top priority. \nAnyone feeling ill\, (fever\, cough\, shortness of breath)\, do not visit the shelter. \nIf committed to adopting same day\, to surrender a pet\, pick up a cremation\, to donate\, or for a vital program/service\, call for entry to the Shelter.\nPhone (712) 252-2614\, ext. 0. \nIn accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) we are not allowing social gatherings of more than 10 people.\nYour group size may be limited as to how many may enter the Shelter. \nOur website is up to date to see who is currently available for adoption.\nAgain\, unless you are really looking to adopt or need one of our other services\, please refrain from coming inside the shelter at this time. \nWe have increased cleaning/disinfecting\, not permitting sick staff or community to come to the Shelter\, and following CDC workplace guidelines. \nPractice social distancing\, so if you visit the shelter please use hand sanitizer\, wash hands\, and respect personal space. DESCRIPTION:Animal shelters across the country team up to host the National House Pawty fundraiser\nLive-streamed event aims to raise funds and spirits during era of social distancing \nOver 80 animal shelters and rescue organizations across the United States have joined forces to create the National House Pawty\, a livestreamed fundraiser set to take place on Facebook Saturday\, April 18\, from 6 to 9 p.m. Central Daylight Time.   The Siouxland Humane Society is happy to announce that we have joined this national pawtnership to raise funds and provide families in Siouxland with this awesome opportunity to join in the House Pawty from their own homes. \nThe event will feature a variety of entertainment ranging from interactive games to celebrity and athlete cameos to live music performances. Details of the event and participating organizations can be found here. \nBeginning April 14\, Individuals are encouraged to raise $250 for their favorite participating pet welfare organization to help event organizers reach their goal of raising $500\,000 nationally. The funds will be distributed to participating organizations that have had to cancel fundraisers and adoption events during the COVID-19 pandemic.   The shelter would love for anyone that is able\, to log on and select the Siouxland Humane Society as the beneficiary of a donation.  A donation of any amount will help the shelter to continue to provide the programs and services to those in need during this time by providing the means necessary to enable families to keep their pets in their homes during these financially difficult and uncertain times we are all facing. \nPurina\, a perennial supporter of organizations that help put people and pets together\, has stepped up as presenting sponsor of the National House Pawty.  \n“In the past month\, we’ve seen a huge increase in pet fosters and adoptions across the country\, but there is still a great need among pet welfare organizations” said Cat Small with the Purina Pet Welfare team. “At Purina\, we believe life is better when people and pets bond – even during difficult times. That’s why we’re proud to support this fundraiser and the shelters that connect people with pets.”  \nThe event traces its roots to St. Louis-based Gateway Pet Guardians. In 2016\, the organization livestreamed its first Slumber Pawty\, with volunteers spending the night in shelters to help long-term shelter pets get adopted while raising funds to support the cause of pet adoption. In 2018\, the group expanded the event to include 15 fellow shelters who livestreamed a variety of activities from shelters.      \n“We’re in the midst of a good-news/bad-news situation. Some info on your fundraiser has been prefilled from the template\, but you can edit it however you like to make it your own.  CLICK OK \n•	On the clear left of the screen\, you will see icons\, select the edit icon (Pencil).\n	I have the overall template set up but you are welcome to add your story and personalize it how you would like.  You Can Change the title\, the photo\, edit the story\, etc.  I have the general goal set up at $250\, you can edit that if you choose as well.\n	Click on the duration tab and enter April 18th as the last day your page will be live for anyone to donate through.\n	On the left hand-side click on the Creater Social Links and link your page with your facebook page.\n	Once you are finished and satisfied with your page\, you will click on the airplane looking icon to publish your page. \nYou will then see this screen \nYour fundraiser is live!\nLooks good\, now tell people about it!
