Cat Surrender – Appointment Only!

The Siouxland Humane Society helps thousands of pets in need find loving homes each year – and no pet is ever turned away. We are focused on quality animal care, a healthy and happy shelter environment and placing 100% of the adoptable pets. To help us sustain these goals we are now taking cats/kittens by appointment only. By managed admission we can schedule the intake of cats to match available kennel space to provide a safe, healthy outcome for every cat.

Surrender by appointment gives us the opportunity to gather medical and behavioral information, provide resources or offer alternatives to surrender. Staff will be able to devote the care and compassion that owners and their cats deserve. Scheduled appointments will also allow us to prepare for your cat’s arrival.

By managing the intake of cats with the capacity of space and care we can match the number of cats cared for at any one time with the kennel space available to eliminate overcrowding. This will assure that all the cats in the Shelter are given the best possible care with the least amount of stress. By providing more kennel space for each cat, we are providing a more comfortable atmosphere for the cats. This will increase adoptions, reduce overcrowding, decrease stress and the chances of illness, provide better customer service and our staff to focus more on each individual cat’s needs, thus making them more adoptable which is always our primary goal.
